Chloe Hight
About the Artist
Chloë Hight is a multimedia visual and teaching artist whose work is shaped by an early and enduring relationship with the natural world, growing up along the Columbia River in Hood River, Oregon. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, BC, where she studied pottery, printmaking, fiber arts, basket weaving, and community engagement.
Her creative practice weaves together multiple forms of expression to explore personal storytelling, identity, and connection to place. Led by curiosity and inquiry, she is continually expanding her practice through learning new artistic mediums. With over 15 years of hands-on teaching experience with children—from preschool through middle school—as well as adults, Chloë integrates somatic movement, breathwork, visual art, and narrative writing to support students in accessing their authentic creative voice and personal story.
Chloë is currently pursuing an Expressive Arts Training Certification through the Tamalpa Institute, deepening her healing-centered teaching approach through the integration of movement, visual art, and narrative practices. Her work emphasizes embodied learning, self-reflection, and cultivating meaningful relationships with oneself and the surrounding world.

About THE ARTIST
Exploring the Self Portrait
Self-portraiture, in its many forms, offers a powerful entry point for exploring the layered nature of identity. Students create visual self-portraits through approaches such as iris portraits, hand portraits, mandala portraits, integrated with reflective writing prompts. This residency invites students to engage in a multidisciplinary process that weaves together mindful movement, breathwork, visual art, and narrative writing. Students will explore the language of the arts and metaphor to express personal experiences and perspectives. This process supports students in developing and articulating their artistic voice and and sharing the value of their unique gifts within the larger community.
