Did you know that in Mexico, there's many types of tamales? Strawberry, coconut, pineaple, lime, chocolate, pork, pollo…. The list goes on.
The idea is to have (Hopefully) a day where we could start early. We could have students come in and choose a section (section 1: kids learn to make dough), (section 2: kids choose their tamal filling - this is the fun part, because kids can choose any type of filling we provide and we can get creative!). My hope is that we could have them ready (prepped and cooked) by lunch so we could have kids eat them for lunch. (If time and capacity allows it, we could incorporate "champurrado" which is a traditional type of hot chocolate with tortilla dough.)
