During this week-long residency, students will draw and paint sea creatures, such as seahorses, sea turtles, narwhals, dolphins, and orcas. Through modeling and guided practice, Joy offers an engaging educational art program. Using pencils, markers, and watercolor painting techniques, children will have fun watching their aquatic creations come to life. While creating, we will discuss habitats, ecosystems, and our shared environment. This project beautifully merges marine science with the arts.

Over the course of five days, students will create paintings of elephants, giraffes, leopards, lions, and zebras. Environments, observable and behavioral characteristics of wildlife are also discussed. By employing scaffolding, Joy helps empower students to develop skills and gain confidence in drawing, watercolor, and acrylic techniques. Four classes are taught using pencils, markers, and watercolor paints. Every day is an exciting adventure. The final class is the most anticipated and exhilarating— painting with acrylic on canvas!
