Born Julia Celeste Zapien now married under my new name Becker. I was born and raised in the valley of The Columbia River Gorge. The Gorge is something I carry with me proudly, and my art is a reflection of that connection as an artist. I most enjoy working with acrylic and watercolor, but I also love block printing and often draw inspiration from my Latin roots through Día de los Muertos inspired pieces. Art is gift that can create connection, be restorative, and offer respite from a busy world.
If you stepped into my home, you’d quickly see that I love a little bit of everything and am a true crafter at heart. Art is something I try to share as often as possible with others. I enjoy creating pieces that feel special, make us laugh in the process, and just feel good to create. When I’m not creating, you can usually find me outside hiking, exploring, or soaking up nature with my husband and our two dogs.
Connect with like-minded learners from across the Pacific Northwest to exchange ideas, resources, and support our Arts in Education programs here in the Gorge.
