I create art inspired by nature, using natural materials whenever possible. I make my own inks from plants and pigments gathered from my surroundings, and I love sharing this natural palette with others through workshops and artist residencies.

With 4th graders at Whitson Elementary, I led a project to create a large exterior mural based on their own artwork. We began by exploring folk art—its meaning, themes, and connection to community. Students then created drawings that reflected our own community, using folk-art ideas as inspiration. Each student was assigned a section of the wall and painted their scene directly onto the mural. To finish, I added a unifying border that framed and tidied the composition while keeping every student’s painting fully intact.

I have painted several murals involving students. I bring in oak galls to make a black ink similar to sumi ink that we paint with and make marks. Watercolor painting and any mixed medium. Cardboard sculpture, found materials sculpture, paper mache.
